"Catwalk Competition 2010" RULES & REGULATIONS
GOAL: VA Fashion Week and Splash Model Management seek to further the career opportunities of top area models with a competition to put the best new faces
in the spotlight and offer them further opportunities on the national and international modeling scene.
PRIZES:
All qualifying contestants will receive a gift package including valuable coupons and sample
products. Each contestant will be photographed and have access to web-sized images from the event that
they will be allowed to use on their personal pages. The top finalists in this model search will appear
as models in one or more Virginia Fashion Week’s 2010 events, and be represented by Splash Model Management
for print, runway, and TV jobs throughout Virginia. The top finalists pictures will be sent to major
market agencies. In addition the top finalists will receive a runway coaching session in preparation for
VA Fashion Week as well as any NY auditions we are able to obtain for them.
The one winner selected during VA Fashion Week will receive additional prizes including a photo session with a top
fashion photographer, model comp cards, one-on-one interviews with NY agents and other prizes TBA. Winner will be named “The Face of VA Fashion Week” and appear on flyers, posters, website
representing VA Fashion Week 2010!
RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Minimum age for all models is 14. Maximum age for this competition is 29. All models under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
2. The ideal female runway model candidates for the fashion division are usually be between 5’8” and 6’and wear sizes 0-6 however we are open to contestants of all sizes.
Models outside the size range for runway will most likely be used for print and promotional work associated with VA Fashion Week. Body must be fit and healthy.
No large visible tattoos.
3. Male models for the fashion/runway division are usually between 5’11” and 6’3” and wear a jacket size of 38-42. Waist between 29” and 33”. Body must be fit and healthy. Again we will consider all sizes however preference will be given to models within the standard guidelines.
4. Splash Model Management is a NON-EXCLUSIVE agency. We very much believe, as do most professionals in the business, that there is no place for exclusive contracts in a secondary market such as Hampton Roads. Applicants may be listed with agencies and enter this competition but may not be under any exclusive contracts in the states of Virginia or New York or under any exclusive mother agency or manager/scout agreements.
Any models who have signed exclusive contracts will need to give notice to agents of their intention to end these contracts prior to entering this competition.
5. All entrants must sign release form for pictures and names to be used in websites and promotional materials for VA Fashion Week and Splash Model Management as well
as by contest sponsors. Splash Model Management will retain the usage rights to any photos and or video from the competition and from VA Fashion Week even if model
is no longer affiliated with Splash Model Management.
6. There is a $10 one time entrance fee for all models that may be prepaid online by PayPal at www.vafashionweek.net/payments.html or upon entering the competition.
Models are requested to bring a recent photo or comp card along with a CD or Flash Drive with digital photos if they have them. Models will be photographed,
interviewed, and asked to demonstrate their best runway walk. To see examples of the runway walks we like to see go to youtube.com and search NY Fashion Week.
We may ask for two different styles of walking, one showing minimum expression, the classic NY “Catwalk” style demonstrated in most of the Bryant Park shows as well
as in Paris, London, and Milan shows, another showing some personality as exemplified in shows for designer Betsey Johnson and in many of the LA shows such as
Heatherette, D-Squared, and other more casual lines.
7. The models selected as semi-finalists will be called back to audition for VA Fashion Week designers at a later date. Several contestants will be selected to receive a
runway training session by professional model and coach Cookie Dabney and a test shoot with top photographer Dawnita Xamilia Alston. The designers top choices will then
compete in the “Catwalk Competition” during the final day of VA Fashion Week. The final first prize winner will be chosen by a combined scoring of judges votes and audience applause.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day on Sunday November 14.
8. The top finalists in this model search will audition and be videotaped for designers to select the models for their VAFW shows. They will be given the opportunity to appear
as models in one or more Virginia Fashion Week’s 2010 events, and be represented by Splash Model Management
for print, runway, and ther jobs througout VA and surrounding areas as well as being promoted to top agencies in NY, Miami, and international markets.
In addition the top finalists will receive a runway coaching session in preparation for
VA Fashion Week as well as any NY auditions we are able to obtain for them. Several of the finalists from the Spring model calls will be selected for a fashion spread in the
fall 2010 issue of VA Fashion Magazine.
9. First place winner will be awarded a photoshoot and a fashion spread in the Summer 2011 issue of VA Fashion Magazine, a model portfolio and comp card as
well as regional representation with Splash Model Management. They will also be submitted to agencies and casting directors in New York and other major markets.

10. All entrants must sign release form for pictures and names to be used in websites and promotional materials for VA Fashion Week and Splash Model Management
as well as by contest sponsors.
